Deadite Press is proud to host the most infamous event in all of horror literature – the Gross Out Contest at the World Horror Convention in Portland, OR! This year’s event will be hosted by Deadite Press head editor, Jeff Burk, and he’ll also be providing valuable and awe-inspiring prizes!
The contest is simple – your goal is to tell the most extreme, gag-inducing, vile-filled, piece of literary excrement that your twisted mind can summon. You have three minutes to read the story and then you will be stopped and the audience will decide if you will continue. If you pass that test, you have two more minutes to finish your story – you WILL be cut-off at five minutes!
You will be graded on the following criteria – GROSSNESS, HUMOR, AUDIENCE REACTION, PRESENTATION, and ORIGINALITY.
Props and costumes are highly encouraged!
The event will be taking place Saturday evening, May 10th.

Brian Keene to receive the 2014 World Horror Grand Master Award

Dave Brockie 1963 – 2014
On Sunday, March 23rd, Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus) passed away. He was best known as the lead singer of GWAR. He was also an accomplished musician, filmmaker, painter, and writer. Deadite Press published his first novel, WHARGOUL, in 2010. Everyone at Deadite Press/Eraserhead Press is honored to have played a small role in his artistic legacy. He will forever serve as an inspiration to all independent artists. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans.
